Domaine Haut Perron Sauvignon Blanc 2008

Sustainably grown from Touraine, Val de Loire. Really great nose with tropical fruit- very unusual for French SB's. Very nice easy drinking witht the right amount of acidity and fruit, very nice creamy finish! SO delicious; my new house wine!

Graham Beck Sauvignon Blanc 2008

Clean scent with fresh minerally flavor that has a light touch. Tropical fruit on the nose with aromas of pears and lychee. The palate is crisp, ripe passion fruit and lime fruit wrapped up in a mouth-watering finish. More earthy and silkier than a New Zealand sauvignon blanc. This wine is a sure bet for turkey season.

Graham Beck is a giant of the South African wine scene and has led the country's thundering success since the end of Apartheid in 1994, a year that saw Nelson Mandela toast his inauguration as President with a flute of Beck's Brut NV. This winemaker is committed to caring for its workers and neighbors, by providing education and housing.

White Haven Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2008

Musk melon and gooseberry nose with gravel and flint. The body is fuller with nice texture. I saw this on the wine list recently at G restaurant Swampscott.

Domaine Sallies Sauvignon Blanc 2008

From the Languedoc, southwestern France, between Corbieres and Minervois. Near the Mediterranean. Fresh, bright scent with a hint of rose petal. Unoaked. Decent with an acidic finish. Grapefruit and citrus peel flavors and would be great with a cheese plate or on a longhot summer's day.

Drylands Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2008

Gravelly-fresh-ripe blood-orange and white grapefruit. A hint of frissee. Very nice, I probably have something in this price-point already, but think it would do well in a tasting.

Domaine des Saint Pierres 2007

100% Sauvignon Blanc. Pierre Prieur & Fils. Small family owned property they only grow sauvignon blanc. 12.5% alc. Nose is bright green grass and citrus and flint. Light and flinty/stony, very fresh with minimal citrus on finish. Very nice, would retail for about $20.

Crossroads Winery 2008 Sauvignon Blanc

Passion fruit-scented, this New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is tart, acidic and bright. Very fresh with a blood-orange finish that makes me thankful its summertime. Pictured here, I tasted this with a beet-white onion-toasted pine nut salad with dijon vinaigrette. The creamy toasted texture of the pinenuts was a delicious foil to the wine.

Girard Sauvignon Blanc 2006

Napa Valley fermented in stainless. Very firm. A bit tart. Nah.

Babich Sauvignon Blanc 2008

New Zealand, Marlborough. Grapefruit nose, light color and a citrusy feel. Flinty finish, not long, but crisp.

Fat Tree Semillion Chardonnay 2008

A refreshing, citrusy semillion (78%) - sauvignon blanc (22%) blend with a little flint on the finish. The semillion gives it plenty of richness to balance the sauvignon blanc's acidity. Rose/lily floral scent is very nice.
